The Kitchen
Welcome to the kitchen bunker
This was less fortified than the other bunkers on this site. Brick walls were not as thick as the ceilings and there were no defenses. It was used as a pantry and a kitchen. This shelter has three rooms that run along a long hallway. There was a place to stock coal, a room with a cooking unit, a dining room for officers and a pantry. The food was stocked on shelves affixed to the wall or set on the floor.
On an average day, a few dozen soldiers were enough to run the installation. During alerts, the structures could hold hundreds of people so, a kitchen to feed the soldiers was necessary on the site.
As was the case for the other bunkers in the post war years, little by little, gravel and dirt filled the structures until it was impossible to access. It was renovated in 1995. Inside, the stove, (made of bricks) had all but disappeared. It was completely restored according to pictures, in 2014.
